Boston signs pitcher Chris Martin
The American Association announced that the Red Sox purchased the contract of pitcher Chris Martin from the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Martin, 24, was drafted in the 21st round of the 2005 draft by Colorado, and posted a 4-0 record with a 1.96 ERA in 36.2 innings for Grand Prairie last season. The 6-foot-8 righty struck out 36 batters and walked just 8 for the AirHogs.
