Red Sox release Jeremy Hermida
The Red Sox have announced that they have released outfielder Jeremy Hermida. The 26 year old was acquired in the off season from the Florida Marlins in exchange for Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez.
After hitting .203/.257/.348 with 5 home runs and 27 RBI in 52 games for Boston this season, Hermida was designated for assignment on July 31. He cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket where he hit .286/.329/.403 in 19 games.
