Michael Thomas named PTBNL in Saltalamacchia deal
Catcher Michael Thomas has been sent to Texas as the player to be named later in the deal that brought Jarrod Saltalamacchia to Boston.
Thomas had not played since July 28, but was batting .156/.269/.267 in his time with Greenville this season. He was picked in the 12th round of the 2009 draft and is generally known for his strong skills behind the plate and arm.
Right-hander Roman Mendez and first baseman Chris McGuiness were the other players included in the package sent to Texas at the trade deadline.
