Wilson to DL, Padrón promoted

Right-hander Alex Wilson has been placed on the disabled list. Outfielder Jorge Padrón was promoted from extended spring training to take his spot on the Salem Red Sox, according to Salem radio broadcaster Evan Lepler.

Currently the eighteenth-ranked prospect, Wilson pitched yesterday, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks in 4.1 innings of work. For the season, he is 2-1 with an ERA of 3.40 to go along with a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.33. There is no word on the type of injury or severity yet.

The Red Sox signed Padrón, 23, out of Cuba in March, after he defected in 2009. The left-handed hitting outfielder has above-average all around offensive tools.
