Reddick to Boston, Manuel, Hassan to Pawtucket

According to Gordon Edes, the Red Sox have reshuffled their roster for tonight's series opener against the Colorado Rockies by recalling outfielder Josh Reddick and optioning reliever Robert Manuel to Triple-A Pawtucket. The right-handed Manuel was recalled just three days ago and did not make an appearance with the big league squad. Reddick, 23, will be returning to Boston where he has played in eight games this season with just three hits in 17 at-bats. He has struggled this season in Pawtucket, compiling a .218/.268/.375 line in 57 games. However, Reddick has picked it up lately, hitting .342 in 38 at-bats in the month of June.

In other roster news, outfielder Alex Hassan, who had been playing for Single-A Salem, has been promoted to Pawtucket, according to Dan Hoard. Hassan, who was selected in the 20th round of the 2009 draft, has hit .228/.352/.356 in 47 games this season.
