Red Sox sign Kolbrin Vitek
Team sources have told Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe that 20th overall pick Kolbrin Vitek has agreed to terms with the Boston Red Sox. Pending a physical, Vitek will recieve the slot-recommended signing bonus of $1.4 million. Projected to play either third base or the center field going forward, Vitek was the 2010 MAC Player of the Year and a First-Team Louisville Slugger All-American after hitting .361 with 16 home runs, 68 RBI and an OPS of 1.136. He also stole at least 16 bases in each of the past 2 seasons. A smart, disciplined hitter with strong baseball instincts, Vitek is expected to report to Lowell with fellow draftee Bryce Brentz.
