Player of the Week, 8/11-17: Luis Sumoza
In six games last week, Lowell OF Luis Sumoza posted a .565/.586/1.130 (1.716 OPS) line with three home runs and four doubles, scoring eight runs and batting in 10 in 23 ABs (13 hits) and was recognized by the voters as SoxProspects.com (position) Player of the Week for August 11-17. Sumoza, 20, is hitting .297/.363/.541 (.904 OPS) with nine home runs and 15 doubles in 172 ABS, scoring 26 runs while batting in 36 and has stolen eight bases (5 CS) in 45 games with the Spinners in 2008. Signed as a free agent out of Venezuela in 2004, Sumoza is currently the 38th ranked prospect in the organization by SoxProspects.com. He was also named New York-Penn League Player of the Week for the same period.
