Pitcher of the Week, 8/4-10: Kyle Fernandez
Lancaster submarine LHP Kyle Fernandez worked four scoreless innings of relief against Bakersfield (Texas) August 9, striking out eight while allowing two hits (.143 BAA) earning a save and was recognized by the SoxProspects.com community as the Pitcher of the Week for August 4-10. Promoted from Greenville July 29, Fernandez, 22, owns a 2.13 ERA over 12.2 innings pitched, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits (.239 BAA) and striking out 16 (three walks). With the Drive he owned a 3-1 record with a 4.47 ERA in 24 appearances over 58.1 innings pitched, allowing 29 earned runs on 62 hits and striking out 54 while walking 19. Fernandez has also made one appearance with Portland in 2008 (two innings, two strike outs and one walk). He was a 12th round pick in 2005 out of Massasoit Communty College (MA) and hails from Westport, MA.
