Dening perfect at the plate in Spinner win
8/14 Cup of Coffee: Action on Wednesday saw the affiliates of the the Sox take all six games played. Pawtucket defeated Scranton/WB 5-1. Edgar Martinez (7-2) got the win pitching 6 shuout innings. He allowed 4 hits and 4 BB while fanning 2. Beau Vaughn threw 1 inning giving up 1 run on 4 hits. He fanned 2. Hunter Jones threw a scoreless, hitless inning. He gave up 1 BB while fanning 1. Eric Hull pitched a 1-2-3 9th. Jeff Bailey went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Sandy Madera went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI. Jeff Corsaletti went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Josh Wilson went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.
Portland downed Altoona 5-3. Kris Johnson (8-7) threw 5.2 frames giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. He had 8 Ks. TJ Large went 2 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and a BB. He had 4 Ks. Daniel Bard earned his 4th save throwing the final 1.1 innings. He did not allow a run or a hit. He walked 1 while fanning 4. He lowered his ERA to 2.28. Aaron Bates went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Lars Anderson went 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs. Argenis Diaz went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. HE is now hitting .299.
Lancaster defeated Inland Empire 6-2. Chris Jones (6-8) pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 2 BB. He had 5 Ks. Craig Molldrem went 2 innings and gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He fanned 3. Cody McAllister pitched a scoreless 9th allowing 1 hit while fanning 2. Kris Negron went 2 for 5 with a home run. Luis Exposito went 2 for 5 and scored twice. He is now hitting .287 for the Jethawks. Aaron Reza went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Reid Engel went 2 for 3.
Greenville downed Lexington 7-2. Terumasa Matsuo (5-4) went 6.1 frames allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and a BB. He had 6 Ks. Lance McClain threw 1.1 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Felix Ventura threw the final 1.1 frames and did not allow a run. He gave up 1 hit while fanning 1. David Mailman went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Carlos Fernandez-Oliva went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Oscar Tejeda went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI. David Marks went 2 for 4 with a home run.
