Bailey up, Pauley back to Paw Sox

The Red Sox have recalled OF/1B/DH Jeff Bailey from Pawtucket and have returned RHP David Pauley to the Paw Sox. Pauley was called up to bolster the Sox bullpen which had been depleted in Wednesday night's 19-17 victory over Texas. Bailey, 29, is .301/.405/.562 (.967 OPS) line hitting 25 home runs, 28 doubles and three triples over 418 Pawtucket ABs. In eight games with the big club this year Bailey is 0/5 with three walks, his last appearance coming as a pinch hitter July 9 against Minnesota ... In other roster moves, the Red Sox claimed RHP Marcus McBeth off waivers from Cincinnati and have optioned him to Pawtucket. In order to make room for McBeth on the 40-man roster, Boston has designated RHP Lincoln Holdzkom for assignment.
