Navarro goes 4 for 4 in Jethawk win


7/17 Cup of Coffee: Last night saw both Pawtucket and Portland involved in their leagues's All Star games. The Pacific Coast League downed the International League 6-5. Joe Thurston went 3 for 4 and scored a run. Chris Carter went 1 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI.

In the Eastern League All Star game, the North defeated the South 5-3. Beau Vaughn threw a scoreless inning allowing 1 hit and a BB. Jeff Corsaletti went 1 for 2 in the game.

Lancaster defeated San Jose 6-2. Chris Province (5-2) went 7 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 2 BB. He had 4 Ks. Cody McAllister threw 0.2 of an inning and did not allow a run on 1 hit and 2 BB. He had 1 K. Derrick Loop went 0.2 of an inning and gave up 1 run on 1 hit. He had 1 K. Josh Papelbon threw o.2 of an inning and did not allow a run or a hit. He allowed 1 BB while striking out 2. Yamaico Navarro went 4 for 4 with a RBI. Reid Engel went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Zak Farkes went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Greenville edged Lakeville 2-1. Terumasa Matsuo (4-3) threw 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 3 BB. He had 4 Ks. Ryne Miller went 1.2 frames and did give up a run or a hit. He allowed 1 BB while fanning 1. Felix Ventura went 1.1 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits. Carlos Fernandez-Oliva went 2 for 4.

Mahoning Valley defeated Lowell 6-4. Bryan Price went 1.2 innings allowing 6 runs (2 of them earned) on 4 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Yeiper Castillo threw 5.1 scoreless frames allowing 1 hit and 3 BB. He had 3 Ks. Dennis Neuman closed out the game throwing 2 perfect innings. No player had more than 1 hit in the game.

Both the Gulf Coast League and the Dominican Summer League Red Sox team's games were postponed.

Player of the Night: Yamaico Navarro who went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate in his first game after his promotion.
