Sox select Bryan Price with 45th pick
With the 45th pick overall, the Boston Red Sox selected RHP Bryan Price out of Rice University. Price is a 6'4'' 210 lbs reliever with a hard sinking fastball that sits between 90-95 MPH to go with a biting slider that can come in at 87 MPH. His fastball has gotten harder as the season has gone along. Price also has a change-up, but doesn't use it much in games at the moment. In 44 1/3 innings this season, Price is 3-4 with a 3.65 ERA and 2 saves. He's struck out 50 batters while walking 23. Considered below average, his command has been improving this season. There are some questions as to whether Price will begin his career as a starter or in the bullpen, but look for him to start his career with Lowell after signing with the Sox.
