Buchholz strong start leads PawSox to win

6/15 Cup of Coffee: Happy Father's Day! Pawtucket downed Lehigh Valley 5-1 behind the strong start of Clay Buchholz. He went 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 6 hits and 2 BB. He had 8 Ks. Hunter Jones threw 2 scoreless innings of relief giving up 3 hits. He had 1 K. Chris Smith pitched a scoreless 9th allowing 1 hit while striking out the side. Jeff Bailey went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Sean Danielson went 2 for 4 and scored twice.

Portland lost both games of their doubleheader. The first game was the conclusion of the suspended game. Akron took that one 4-2. Visalia downed Lancaster 3-1. Tony Bajoczky had a good start despite picking up the loss. He went 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Josh Reddick had 2 hits and a RBI.

Augusta defeated Greenville 8-5. Chad Povich went 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. He had 6 Ks. Ryne Lawson threw 3 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and a BB. He had 4 Ks. Kyle Fernandes pitched the 9th and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. Ryan Kalish went 2 for 5 with a RBI. Mike Jones went 2 for 5 and scored a run. Luis Exposito went 2 for 5 with a run scored. David Marks went 2 for 3 and scored a run.

In the Dominican League, the Red Sox edged the Royals 4-3. Manuel Rivera threw 4 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 4 Ks.
