6/21 Cup of Coffee: On Friday, Pawtucket downed Columbus 5-2. Clay Buchholz (2-1) went 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit. He had 6 Ks. Jon Switzer threw 2 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and a BB. He had 4 Ks. Jose Vaquedano did not retire a batter but gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. Hunter Jones pitched the final two innings and did not allow a run on 1 hit. He fanned 3. Jon Van Every went 2 for 3. Chris Carter went 1 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI.
New Hampshire defeated Portland 6-1. Dave Gassner (0-2) went 6 innings giving up 6 runs on 7 hits and a BB. He had 5 Ks. Carlos Vasquez threw 2 scoreless, hitless frames. He allowed 3 BB. Tony Granadillo went 2 for 3 and scored a run.
