Pitcher of the Month, April: Daniel Bard
Greenville kept the awards in-house in April as RHP Daniel Bard worked 20 shutout innings over ten games, while allowing only eight hits (.123 BAA) and four free passes while striking out 32 opposing batters, earning one win (1-0) and SoxProspects.com Player of the Month honors. With a fastball that tops out in the high nineties, Bard, 22, was converted to a reliever after pitching well in the role in the Hawaii Winter League this past off season and reportedly changing his delivery after a disastrous 2007 campaign. He was twice named Pitcher of the Week by the SoxProspects.com community, April 3-6 and 21-27.
