Lowell to DL, Lowrie up
Before tonight's game, the Red Sox placed Mike Lowell on the 15-day DL (thumb sprain) and purchased the contract of Jed Lowrie. Lowrie, who is not in the starting lineup, is wearing number 12. While Lowrie already played for Pawtucket this afternoon, he is eligible to play this evening.
