Bard extends scoreless streak to 7 innings
4/13 Cup of Coffee: On Saturday, Louisville defeated Pawtucket 3-1. Miguel Tejera started and lasted 5 1/3 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 BB. He had 5 Ks. Newcomer Eric Hull threw 1 2/3 clean frames. Jon Switzer pitched the final inning giving up 1 run on 2 hits. George Kottaras went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Brandon Moss went 1 for 3 with a RBI.
New Britain blasted Portland 14-5. Kris Johnson started and got touched for 7 runs on 9 hits and a BB in 3 1/3 innings. He had 2 Ks. Kyle Jackson gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and a BB in 1 2/3 frames. He had 1 K. Hunter Jones went 2 innings allowing a run on 3 hits. He had a K. Mike James gave up 2 runs on a hit and a BB in an inning of work. He had a K. Miguel Asencio worked the final inning allowing a run on 2 hits. Bubba Bell went 3 for 5 and scored a run. Zach Daeges went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Iggy Suarez went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI.
Lake Elsinore outslugged Lancaster 11-7. James Russ went 2 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 BB. He had 2 Ks. Tony Bajoczky threw 4 2/3 frames giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. He had 1 K. Jason Blackey went the final 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB. Jon Still went 2 for 4 with a home run. Zak Farkes went 3 for 4. Jorge Jimenez went 2 for 3. Argenis Diaz went 2 for 4. Luis Segovia went 2 for 2.
Greenville swept their doubleheader with West Virginia. The Drive took the first game 7-2. Felix Doubront started and went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. He had 7 Ks. Daniel Bard threw 2 perfect frames and had 3 Ks. David Marks went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. Anthony Rizzo went 2 for 3 and scored a run. Aaron Reza went 3 for 4 and scored a run. Greenville won the second contest 5-1. Eammon Portice went 4 2/3 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits. He had 8 Ks. Chad Povich threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. He gave up 2 hits while fanning 3. Felix Ventura pitched the final inning and did not give up a run or a hit. He walked 3 and struck out 1. Yamaico Navarro went 2 for 3 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Kris Negron went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored.
