Sox get Carter, complete Pena deal
The Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals completed last Friday's trade of Wily Mo Pena when the Nationals sent 1B/OF Chris Carter, the deal's "player to be named", to Boston today. Pena had been dealt to Washington with cash considerations for a player to be named later. With AAA Tucson, Carter batted .324/.383/.521/.904 with 18 HR, 39 doubles, and three triples, walking 50 times while striking out 68 in 503 ABs over 126 games. Washington sent RHP Emiliano Fruto to Arizona to acquire Carter. Carter has been assigned to AAA Pawtucket.
