Richardson shines in Jethawk debut
8/15 Cup of Coffee: Tuesday's action saw Pawtucket defeat Ottawa 5-3. Devern Hansack (8-7) went 6 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 3 BB. He had 3 Ks. Craig Breslow pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit. Bryan Corey retired the only batter he faced. Javier Lopez faced 2 batters retiring them both. He had 1 K. Travis Hughes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit. He had 1 K. Joe McEwing went 2 for 5 with a home run. Ed Rogers went 2 for 4 and scored a run.
Trenton edged Portland 4-3 in 10 innings. Chris Smith went 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and a BB. He had 4 Ks. Hunter Jones went 2 1/3 innings. He did not allow a run on 4 hits. He had 2 Ks. Kyle Jackson (4-8) went 1 1/3 frames allowing the winning run on 2 hits. He had 2 Ks. Bubba Bell went 1 for 5 with 2 RBI.
Lancaster edged Modesto 6-5. In his first start in the California League, Dustin Richardson (1-0) went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits. He did not walk a batter and had 6 Ks. Ismael Casillas went 1 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 2 Ks. Chad Rhoades closed the game off going 1 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit. Brad Correll went 2 for 5 and scored a run. Scott White went 3 for 5 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Sal Paniagua went 2 for 5. Mickey Hall went 2 for 5 with a RBI.
Greenville edged Lakewood 8-7. Ryan Phillips went 3 1/3 frames allowing 6 runs on 9 hits and 4 BB. He had 4 Ks. Chad Povich threw 3 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 2 BB. He had 3 Ks. Jorge Rodriguez (4-1) went 1 2/3 innings allowing just 1 hit. Josh Papelbon earned the save throwing a perfect 9th. He had 1 K. Josh Reddick went 2 for 5 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Lars Anderson went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Mike Jones went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Matt Sheely went 3 for 5 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Aaron Reza went 2 for 5 with a RBI.
The NY-Penn League is still on their All Star break and the Gulf Coast Red Sox saw their game against the Orioles supended.
The Dominican League Red Sox fell to the Dodgers by a score of 6-4. Stolmy Pimentel had a strong start that went for naught. He went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 3 BB. He had 3 Ks. Roberto Feliz went 2 for 5 with a RBI.
Player of the Night: Dustin Richardson who went 6 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. He did not walk a batter while striking out 6 in his first win for the Jethawks.
