Sox take Keowen in 9th round
With the 294th overall pick the Red Sox selected OF Kade Keowen out of LSU-Eunice JC. Keowen, a 21-year-old draft eligible sophomore, is a big, athletic center fielder with good power and speed and an above average arm for the position. Keowen has good bat speed, but some question how he will perform when facing higher level pitching (he transferred from LSU after red-shirting 2005 and getting only six at-bats in 2006).
