Red Sox select Chris Province with 4th round pick
The Boston Red Sox have selected RHP Chris Province in the 4th round of the 2007 amateur player draft. At 6'3" 220, Province pitched for SE Louisiana and as a senior went 2-3 with a 4.49 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings. He was the team's closer in 2007. Province has a four seam fastball that reaches 97 mph and a two seam fastball that has been clocked around 93-94 mph and a developing slider. He possesses a good pitcher's build. Once signed he will begin 2007 in Lowell.
