Lester throws complete game victory on 87 pitches
On Monday, Pawtucket swept a doubleheader from Norfolk. They took the first game 5-1 behind the complete game performance of Jon Lester. He went 7 innings on just 87 pitches giving up 1 run on 4 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. David Murphy went 3 for 4 with a home run. Bobby Scales went 3 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI. Ed Rogers went 2 for 4 with a RBI. The PawSox took the second game 2-1. Mike Timlin went 2 innings. He did not allow a run on 1 hit. He did not walk a hitter and had 2 Ks. Manny Delcarmen (3-2) threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings and earned the win. He allowed 1 hit and 1 BB. He had 2 Ks. Bryan Corey went 1 2/3 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits. He had 1 K. Travis Hughes threw the final inning allowing 1 run on 1 hit and a BB. Chad Spann went 2 for 3 with a home run. Michael Tucker went 1 for 3 with a home run.

Lancaster defeated Modesto 8-5. Kris Johnson started and went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 3 Ks. TJ Large went 2 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits. He had 3 Ks. Ismael Casillas (4-3) blew the save but picked up the win. He went 1 inning giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. He did not walk a hitter and fanned 1. Chad Rhoades pitched the 9th giving up 1 hit. Bubba Bell went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Zach Daeges went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Aaron Bates went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Mark Wagner went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI.
Kannapolis edged Greenville 7-6. Chris Jones started and went 1 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits and 3 BB. He had 3 Ks. Brian Steinocher threw 4 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. He allowed 3 hits while striking out 2. Kyle Fernandes went 1 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 2. Josh Papelbon (2-2) went 1 1/3 innings.
