Bard and Phillips combine to throw no hitter
6/12 Cup of Coffee: Monday saw Pawtucket stage a dramatic 6-5 come from behind win scoring 3 times on a walk off home run in the 9th. Abe Alvarez went 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 BB. He had 1 K. Edgar Martinez threw 2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB. Bryan Corey earned the win throwing a perfect top half of the 9th. Jacoby Ellsbury went 2 for 4 and is now hitting .292. Bobby Scales went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. George Kottaras went 2 for 4 with the walk off home run and 3 RBI.
Lancaster defeated High Desert 10-7. Mike Rozier went 4 1/3 innings giving up 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 BB. He had 5 Ks. Kevin Guyette ( 4-2) picked up the win going 3 innings allowing a run on 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 1 K. Chad Rhoades went 1 2/3 innings. He did not allow a run on 1 hit. He had a K. Bubba Bell went 1 for 5 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Tony Granadillo went 2 for 5. Zach Daeges went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Scott White went 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Luis Soto went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Christian Lara went 2 for 5.
Greenville defeated Kannapolis 5-0 in a rain shortened no-hitter. Daniel Bard (1-1) went 5 innings. He did not allow a hit but gave up 6 BB. He had 4 Ks. Ryan Phillips threw a hitless 6th inning. The game was called in the 7th due to rain. Jon Still went 2 for 3 and scored a run. Josh Reddick went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Manny Arambarris went 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
