Javier Lopez to AAA, Timlin activated
Prior to the start of this afternoon's game, Terry Francona announced that Javier Lopez had been optioned to AAA Pawtucket and that in a corresponding move Mike Timlin had been activated from the disabled list. Lopez pitched well this young season, and his demotion was the result of his having minor league options remaining rather than the team's possible displeasure with his performance. The sidearm-lefty specialist made 4 appearances, pitching 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and a walk, with no runs allowed.
