Bell homers twice and drives in six


With the teperatures here hovering at the freezing mark, a hot cup of coffee will be most appreciated today. In action last night, Pawtucket defeated Charlotte 5-1. Devern Hansack started going 5 1/3 strong innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits and a BB. He had 10 Ks. Craig Hansen pitched the final 2 innings and earned the save. He did not give up a run and allowed just 1 hit. He had 4 Ks. David Murphy went 2 for 5. Alex Ochoa went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Brandon Moss went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Joe McEwing was 1 for 4 with a homer and 2 RBI. Once again the Portland -Connecticut game was postponed due to bad weather. In California, Bakersfield edged Lancaster 11-9. Daniel Bard started going 2 2/3 innings. He allowed 4 runs while giving up 6 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Tim Cox threw 3 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 3 BB. He had 4 Ks. Ismael Casillas blew the save and took the loss. He gave up 5 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB in 1 2/3 innings of work. Bubba Bell went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI. Tony Granadillo was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Zach Daeges went 2 for 4. Finally, Charleston blasted Greenville 8-2. Chris Jones got off the a great start pitching 5 scoreless, hitless innings. He allowed 1 BB and struck out 3. Miquel Socolovich lasted just 2/3 of an inning giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and a BB. Kyle Fernandes went the final 2 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and a BB. He had 2 Ks. Lars Anderson went 2 for 4. Argenis Diaz went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Michael Hall went 2 for 4.
