8/12 Cup of Coffee

Well after an extended break that took me from the White Mountains of New Hampshire to Hadlock Field in Portland,Maine, I have returned. In action last night, Scranton/WB edged Pawtucket 4-3. Abe Alvarez started and went 6 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 BB. He recorded 6 Ks. Tim Bausher took the loss giving up 1 run in 2 innings of work.Trent Durrington went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.Alex Machado also went 2 for 4. Portland defeated Akron 9-7 for their third straight win after that record tying losing streak. Jeremy West went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Matt Van Der Bosch went 2 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI. Devern Hansack started and went 5 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 BB. He had 2 Ks. Edgar Martinez went 2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. He did not allow a hit but gave up 1 BB. Potomac blasted Wilmington 9-3. Jay Johnson went 4 for 5 and scored a run. Kevin Guyette took the loss. He went 3 1/3 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 BB. He had 3 Ks. Bryce Cox threw 2 scoreless innings of relief allowing 1 hit. The Greenville- Columbus game was postponed. Brooklyn shutout Lowell 5-0. Brian Steinocher started and took the loss. He went 2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 BB. He had 2 Ks. Yulkin German threw 3 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and a BB. He struck out 3. Dustin Richardson went 3 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits. He did not allow a BB and had 4 Ks. Paul Smyth went 2 for 4 with a homer, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Zach Daeges also went 2 for 4. Finally in the GCL, the Red Sox edged the Reds 3-2. Felix Doubront went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 BB. He had 3 Ks. Jose Capellan was credited with the victory going 2 scoreless innings and allowing just 1 hit. Mike Jones went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Matt Sheely also went 2 for 4.
