On Monday Pawtucket beat Toledo 8-6. Jason Johnson got the start for the Pawsox and went 5 innings giving up 6 earned runs on 9 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. Marc Deschenes pitched 3 scoreless innings for the win and Jermaine Van Buren closed it out for his 12th save. David Murphy went 2-3 with a homerun, a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Adam Stern and Jeff Bailey also had 2 hits apiece in the win. Portland fell at New Hampshire 9-8. Chris Smith started for the Seadogs and got hammered in 2 2/3 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1. Chad Spann continues to sizzle in the month of July as he went 2-3 with a homerun, 2 walks, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Tyler Minges went 2-4 with 3 RBI while Brandon Moss, Chris Durbin and Luis Jimenez all had 2 hits apiece. Wilmington on Monday got pounded 12-3 by Myrtle Beach. Gary Galvez got the start for the Blue Rocks and went 4 innings giving up 7 runs on 8 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1. Jeff Corsaletti went 1-4 with a homerun and 2 RBI in the loss. Jed Lowrie went 1-4. Greenville was defeated by Rome 5-4 on Monday. John Barnes started for the Drive and went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. Christian Lara 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Mitch Stachowsky went 2-4 in the loss. Lowell pounded Williamsport 9-1 on Monday. Brian Steinocher made his professional debut and went 3 innings giving up no runs on 2 hits while striking out 1. Ting-Jen Yeh got the win in relief by pitching 2 scoreless innings. Bubba Bell went 4-5 with a triple, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Zak Farkes and Luis Exposito had 3 hits apiece while Aaron Bates and Reid Engel each had 2 hits in the win. And finally the GCL Red Sox beat the GCL Twins 12-8. Jose Capellan got the start and went 3 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits while striking out 2. Carlos Fernandez went 2-3 with a homerun, double, 2 walks, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI while Jonathan Egan went 3-4 with a homerun, double, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Luis Sumoza went 4-6 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Player of the Night: Carlos Fernandez who went 2-4 with a homerun, double, 2 walks, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI in the GCL Red Sox win.
