6/11 Cup of Coffee
Saturday saw something that rarely has happened this season. The Sox farm teams swept all five of their games played. Pawtucket defeated Richmond 8-5. Charlie Zink started and went 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 BB. He struck out 1. Tim Bausher blew the save going 1 inning. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 BB. Brad Baker got the win going 2 1/3 innings. He allowed 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 BB. He had 2 Ks. Adam Stern went 2 for 5 with a homer, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. Ken Huckaby went 3 for 5 and scored a run. Rodney Nye went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. It was a long night at the ballpark in Portland with a long rain delay and the doubleheader not getting over until after 1:30 am today. The SeaDogs took the first game doubling Erie 4-2. Kason Gabbard started and got the win. He went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 8. Edgar Martinez got the save going 1 inning. He allowed 0 runs on 1 hit. He had 1 BB and 2 Ks. Tyler Minges went 1 for 3 with a home run. Luis Jimenez went 1 for 2 and scored twice. Brandon Moss and David Bacani each were 1 for 2 with a RBI. In the second contest, the SeaDogs defeated Erie 7-3. Chris Smith started and went 5 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 BB. Gary Galvez started and went 5 innings to pick up the win. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits. He did not allow a BB and had 1 K. Beau Vaughn pitched 2 innings of 1 hit, scoreless relief. He did not allow a BB and had 1 K. Finally Greenville edged Asheville 6-5. Mike Rozier got the win going 5 innings. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 BB. He had 1 K.
