Lancaster 3B Zak Farkes made the most of his increased playing time last week, posting a .579/.636/1.211 line (1.847 OPS) with three home runs and three doubles over 19 ABs (11 hits), scoring seven and batting in nine runs en route to his first (position) SoxProspects.com Position Player of the Week Award for the week of July 14-20. He was also named California League Offensive Player of the Week for the same time period. Farkes, 25, hails from Boston and played his college ball at Harvard, from which he signed as an undrafted free agent in June 2005. With Lancaster in 2008, Farkes is .260/.332/.431 (.763 OPS) with six home runs, 17 doubles and two triples in 239 ABs (64 hits) over 64 games.
