Despite another solid night overall for Rafael Devers, he couldn't come through in the end as he struck out with the bases loaded to end the game. He still collected a pair of opposite field singles. Steve Selsky was 2 for 4 with three RBI and Tzu Wei-Lin reached three times with a pair of singles and a walk. Marcus Walden was roughed up for six runs on 10 hits in just 5 1/3 innings. Robby Scott pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in his second game back with the PawSox, and Noe Ramirez struck out the side in the ninth.

Henry Owens pitched pretty well over six innings, allowing just two runs on six hits, three walks, and six strikeouts. Bobby Poyner's great season continued with a scoreless frame to lower his ERA with Portland to 0.39. Cole Sturgeon roped a double and Michael Chavis was 1 for 3 with a single.

Jake Drehoff did not have his best outing, lasting just a single inning while surrendering six runs (five earned) on nine hits. The bullpen did their job, as Luis Ysla tossed three scoreless innings, Jacob Dahlstrand allowed a run in two innings, and Williams Jerez pitched a shutout seventh with two strikeouts. Cole Sturgeon provided the offense with a solo shot. Josh Tobias picked up two hits as well.

The offense exploded behind Mike Shawaryn, who pitched well again. He allowed two runs on just two hits and two walks in five innings while striking out six. Jeremy Rivera and Jordan Betts each collected four hits, with Rivera smoking his first home run. Austin Rei, Victor Acosta, and Josh Ockimey also homered. Ockimey had two more hits and a walk in addition to his 11th long ball. Jose Sermo also had three knocks.

Darwinzon Hernandez tossed his second consecutive scoreless outing with five shutout innings. He allowed just three hits, a walk, and struck out five. Daniel Gonzalez pitched three innings and allowed one run before Matthew Gorst picked up the save. Ryan Scott went 2 for 3 with two doubles, Tucker Tubbs went 2 for 4 with a double, and Bobby Dalbec blasted his fourth home run of the season.
