2013 MLB Amateur Draft picks 17-33

The first round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft has concluded. Here is a rundown of the picks from second half of the first round. Ten of the final 17 picks in the first round were college players, and nine of those 17 players were pitchers. The Baltimore Orioles took Hunter Harvey with the 22nd pick, the son of former all-star closer Bryan Harvey (1987-1995 with the California Angels and Florida Marlins). The biggest reach in the second half of the first round was the San Francisco Giants pick of shortstop Christian Arroyo, who was not expected to be a first round selection. With the first round complete it is now time to move to the competitive balance round A. The Red Sox will pick next at 45.
