Players of the Week, July 16-22: Jeremy Hazelbaker & Jeremy Kehrt

This week's SoxProspects.com Player and Pitcher of the Week honors go to a pair of Portland Sea Dogs, Jeremy Hazelbaker, who had seven of his ten hits go for extra bases, and Jeremy Kehrt who worked five perfect innings.

In six games Hazelbaker hit .417/.500/1.083 (10-for-24) with four home runs, two doubles and a triple, scored 10 runs, batted in eight and stole seven bases without being caught. Highlighting a strong week at the plate, he went 3-for-4 with two home runs, batted in five runs and stole a base against Reading (PHI) July 18. On the season Hazelbaker owns a .251/.332/.462 line with 16 home runs, 15 doubles and tree triples, taking 34 bases on balls while striking out 91 times and stealing 24 bases in 34 attempts.

The same day that Hazelbaker was wreaking havock on Reading at the plate, Jeremy Kehrt took to the hill and shut them down for five innings, allowing no runs, no hits and no walks while striking out five and earning the win. Between three levels in 2012, the bulk of which he has spent with Portland, Kehrt has a 4-4 record with a 4.85 ERA, allowing 46 earned runs on 97 hits, striking out 56 while walking 19 over 85.1 innings pitched and holding opposing batters to a .284 average.
