Red Sox release five minor leaguers
According to SoxProspects.com's Jonathan Singer on Twitter, the Red Sox have released pitchers Sean White, Hunter Jones, Matt Kramer, Corey Vogt and outfielder Wilfred Pichardo.
White, 30, spent significant time as a member of the Seattle Mariners bullpen during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He signed as a minor league free agent with the Red Sox this winter after spending 2011 with Triple-A Colorado Springs in the Rockies organization, compiling a 5.68 ERA in 53 relief appearances.
Jones, 28, spent time in the Boston bullpen briefly in 2009 before being traded to the Florida Marlins. He signed earlier this winter with Boston, but has pitched just 1.2 innings professionally since the beginning of the 2010 season due to injury.
