Scorpions rally falls short in loss to Saguaros

11/3 Cup of Coffee: Despite staging a late rally, the Scottsdale Scorpions fell to the Surprise Saguaros, 5-4.

Down 2-0 in the second, the Scorpions got on the board, thanks to a Zach Walters (WAS) sacrifice fly. The Saguaros would respond by scoring a run in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead. In the bottom half of the fifth, the Scorpions pulled to within two on a Brandon Crawford (SF) RBI single. Finding themselves down 5-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the Scorpions staged a rally, plating two runs on a two out RBI single by Derek Norris (WAS). Unfortunately for Scottsdale, the rally was killed with the tying run on third base.

Alex Hassan got the nod in left field, going 1 for 3 with a walk, strikeout and outfield assist. Juan Carlos Linares roamed center field, going 1 for 3. Ryan Dent was 0 for 3 with a walk and two strikeouts as the Scorpions second baseman.

The Scorpions will look to exact revenge this afternoon as they square off against the Saguaros once again at 3:35 EST.
