Reynaldo Rodriguez promoted to Portland

According to Salem broadcaster Evan Lepler, first baseman Reynaldo Rodriguez has been promoted to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs.

Rodriguez, 25, leads the Carolina League in batting average (.317), doubles (24), and slugging percentage (.579), while his 9 home runs and 43 RBI percentage are tops among Salem hitters. His strong first half earned Rodriguez a spot on the Carolina League All-Star team.

After four seasons in the Yankee system, Rodriguez signed with Boston in October 2009 out of the Golden Baseball League and hit .281 with 6 home runs, 34 RBI and a .905 OPS in 85 games for the Greenville Drive last season.
