Red Sox select Cody Koback in 10th round
With the 322nd overall pick in the draft, the Red Sox have selected center fielder Cody Koback from University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
Koback pitched in college, but really caught the eye of scouts with his bat. He hit a team-high .424 with 8 home runs and a school-record 8 triples last season. He also showcased his hitting skills with a wood bat last summer in the Northwoods League, where he hit .305.
It is his speed that really sets him apart though as he was clocked going to first in 4 seconds out of the right-handed hitters box. He is still learning to make the most of this speed defensively and in terms of stealing bases.
