Millwood signs minor league deal with Boston

According to Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports, the Red Sox have signed veteran starter Kevin Millwood to a minor league deal.

Millwood, 36, recently opted out of a minor league deal with the New York Yankees, after going 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has compiled a 159-137 record with a 4.11 ERA in 14 major league seasons with the Braves, Phillies, Indians, Rangers and Orioles. Last season with Baltimore, Millwood suffered a league worst 4-16 record record with a 5.10 ERA in 31 starts.

Millwood will most likely serve as starting depth for a Red Sox team that has suffered injuries to starters Daisuke Matsuzaka, John Lackey and Felix Doubront.
