Michael Bowden recalled from Pawtucket

With Daisuke Matsuzaka the second Red Sox pitcher to head to the disabled list in as many days, the team has recalled Michael Bowden from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Originally drafted as a starting pitcher in 2005, Bowden has spent parts of the last three seasons in Boston, with his original promotion coming in 2008. Last year, the 24 year old made 14 appearances out of the bullpen for the big club, going 0-1 with a 3.66 ERA. The right hander also struck out 13 while walking just 4 in 15.1 innings pitched in 2010. With the PawSox so far this year, Bowden has pitched brilliantly. He's made 14 appearances and allowed just 19 baserunners in 22.2 innings. The Aurora, Ill. native has tallied 4 saves for Pawtucket while racking up 28 strikeouts and just 4 walks.
