Peoria pounds Solar Sox

11/4 Cup of Coffee: Peoria got out to an early lead against the Solar Sox and never looked back, thrashing Mesa 11-2.

The Javelinas got out to a quick start in the game, scoring 3 runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Adam Loewen (TOR) and Nate Tenbrink (SEA). After adding a run in the fourth inning, Peoria opened it up in the sixth scoring 6 runs to increase their lead to 10-0. Dustin Ackley (SEA) opened the inning with a double, followed by three singles, including one by Ryan Lavarnway. Adam Abraham (CLE) had the big hit in the inning, a 2-RBI triple, on which Lavarnway scored a run. Peoria received a near-flawless pitching performance from Marc Rzepczynski (TOR), who went 6.0 scoreless innings giving up 3 hits while striking out 3, to improve his record to 2-0. Peoria added another run in the seventh. Mesa briefly made waves in the eighth, but ended up falling well-short, scoring their only 2 runs of the game.

Lavarnway caught in the game, going 1 for 4 with a walk and a strikeout. Mesa did not attempt any steals in the game against the backstop.

The Javelinas travel to play Mesa again today at 3:35 EST.
