Scorpions bats come up big in drubbing of Javelinas

10/23 Cup of Coffee: On a night where just one Red Sox prospect saw the field Friday, Scottsdale took it to Peoria, winning 12-4.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Peoria scored four runs to take the lead. They would not score again however, and the Scorpions responded with 11 unanswered runs. Five of them came in the bottom of the fifth, when Daniel Turpen came on in relief of Marc Rzepczynski (TOR). Scottsdale's inning included a bases-clearing, 3 RBI double by Marc Krauss (ARI) and a single by Charlie Culberson (SF) to score Krauss. All five runs scored in the inning were charged to Turpen, who was eventually saddled with the loss. After the Scorpions plated two more runs in the sixth, Krauss came up to bat in the eighth, again with the bases loaded. Not satisfied with his double in the fifth, Krauss deposited a Matt Daly (TOR) pitch over the right field wall for a grand slam, finishing with 7 RBI on the night.

The Javelinas return to action Saturday afternoon against the Peoria Saguaros, with the game scheduled for 3:35 EST.
