Saltalamacchia to DL, Brown recalled from Pawtucket
The Red Sox have placed catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the 15-day disabled list with a lower leg infection and recalled catcher Dusty Brown from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Saltalamacchia, acquired on July 31st from Texas, was 2 for 6 with 2 doubles since joining Boston, serving as the backup to Victor Martinez. Brown returns to Boston after spending 6 games with the team earlier this season in which he went 2 for 11. This season in 64 games with Triple-A Pawtucket he has hit .219/.309/.391 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI.
