Doubront to Boston, Okajima to DL

With news that Hideki Okajima is headed to the disabled list, left-hander Felix Doubront has been called up to take his place in the Boston bullpen.

Just recently transitioned into a bullpen role, Doubront was deemed ready for a shot in Boston after just 1 appearance in Pawtucket as a reliever. The 22-year-old went 2.0 innings in that appearance on August 3, giving up no runs while walking one and striking out two. Doubront made his major league debut earlier in the season and 3 starts total for Boston, posting an ERA of 4.11 over 15.1 innings while striking out 10. As a starter in Pawtucket this season, he made 8 starts and gave up only 1 home runs with an ERA of 3.34.

Okajima has struggled throughout most of the season for Boston, and particularly recently. Terry Francona said after Thursday's game that his hamstring was bothering him. On the season, Okajima has made 40 appearances and sports an ERA of 5.85 and an OPS against of .939.
