Where the Sox stand on signing draft picks
With about a month left until the Aug. 16 deadline for teams to sign their 2010 draft picks, several of Boston’s high-profile selections from this June’s draft still remain unsigned. This is neither surprising nor uncommon however, as negotiations with “tough-sign” draftees often continue into the 11th hour. In other situations, a deal is struck between the team and the player well before the deadline, but cannot be made official until August for procedural reasons.
