Players of the Week, May 24-30: Ryan Kalish & Stolmy Pimentel


While Ryan Kalish only appeared in three games with the Sea Dogs last week, he made the most of them, hitting 2 home runs, a double and a triple, knocking in 6 runs and scoring 4 en route to posting a .667/.692/1.417 line in 12 at-bats. Meanwhile, down in Salem, Stolmy Pimentel held the Winston-Salem Dash (White Sox) hitless for 6 innings, striking out 6 while walking only 1 opposing batter last Thursday. In recognition of their efforts each was voted their respective player of the week by the SoxProspects.com community by commanding majorities.

Kalish, 22, has thus far put together a solid 2010 campaign, hitting .286/.396/.513 with 8 home runs, 9 doubles, a and a triple, batting in 28 runs in 154 at-bats over 42 games. Pimentel, 20, is 4-3 with a 3.88 ERA in 11 starts, allowing 22 ER over 51 innings on the season, striking out 38 while walking 15 and holding the opposition to a .240 BAA. This is the first player of the week honor for each in 2010.
