Red Sox select Jacob Dahlstrand in the tenth round

With the team's tenth-round selection, 323rd overall, the Red Sox selected Jacob Dahlstrand, a right-handed pitcher from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas. A presence on the mound, he is listed at 6'5", 205 pounds.

Dahlstrand, 18, is committed to the University of Houston. Scouts love his projectability based on his already-imposing size and the fact he throws an 88-93 mph sinker. His secondary pitches are a work in progress, and he has struggled with control at times throughout his career due to an inconsistent release point.
