Players of the Week, April 26-May 2: Daniel Nava and Alex Wilson

With strong performances at the plate and on the mound, this week's SoxProspects.com Player and Pitcher of the Week honors go to Daniel Nava and Alex Wilson. All voting is done by the SoxProspects.com community.

Nava put together a .304/.484/.783 line for Pawtucket last week, smacking 3 home runs, 2 doubles, and 9 RBI while also stealing a base. The 27-year-old outfielder also collected 7 walks and struck out just 3 times. Nava's week was highlighted by an April 30 performance against Indianapolis in which he went 2-for-4, going deep twice and knocking in 4.

Wilson's April 28 dazzling start for Salem against the Wilmington Blue Rocks earned him Pitcher of the Week honors. The 23-year-old right hander tossed 5.0 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 6, but did not get a decision. He walked just one batter, and amassed a groundball-to-flyball ratio of 8:1.

Two other Red Sox pitchers were also honored for their performances last week. Greenville's Cesar Cabral was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week. Cabral did not allow a run in his 5.0 innings of work out of the bullpen. Additionally, Mitch Herold earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Carolina League. Herold threw 6.0 shutout innings out of the pen this week for Salem, allowing just one hit, with no walks and 3 strikeouts.
