Pitcher of the Week, 8/25-31: Clay Buchholz
RHP Clay Buchholz delivered a pair of vintage performances last week making two starts for Portland and allowing three earned runs on seven hits over 15 innings of work, holding opposing batters to an .137 BAA and was recognized by voting community as SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Week of August 25-31. Against New Britain (Twins) August 25, Buchholz worked seven innings allowing three earned runs on five hits and struck out eight and did not factor in the decision, while on August 30 he struck out ten (and walked one), allowed only two hits and earned the win over New Hampshire (Blue Jays). Buchholz was last named SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Week of August 5-11 2007 ... Honorable mention: Lowell RHP Kyle Weiland, who pitched five scoreless, hitless innings and striking out eight against Hudson Valley (Rays) August 21.
