Pimentel and Dening are NY-Penn all stars


Lowell Spinners RHP Stolmy Pimentel and OF Mitch Dening have been named to the American League roster of the New York-Penn League All Star game to be played August 19 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY. Pimentel, 18, signed as an international free agent in 2006 is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 47 innings pitched over 10 games (eight starts), allowing 16 earned runs on 39 hits, striking out 47 while walking 12 and holding opposing batters to a .225 BAA. Dening, 20, was signed out of Australia in 2005, and has posted a .313/.369/.464 (.833 OPS) in 179 ABs over 45 games, hitting three home runs, eight doubles and five triples, batting in 16 runs while scoring 26, and has stolen six bases (five CS). They are the 21st and 33rd ranked prospects, respectively, in the organization by SoxProspects.com.
