Almanzar leads Gulf Coast Sox to win

7/16 Cup of Coffee: Boy is a cup of java ever needed this morning. It seems like I just went to sleep. Boy, what an All Star Game! What would have happened it it had to go another inning or two? Some adjustments to the rules may be necessary for an All Star Game but that is a discussion for another day. Congrats to JD Drew for being chosen the game MVP.

Due to the All Star Game, action was very light in the minors last night. In the Gulf Coast League, the Red Sox defeated the Reds 6-4. Cesar Cabral went 4 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 2 Ks. Jorge Rodriguez threw 2 perfect innings of relief. He had 1 K. Swen Huijer threw a clean inning and picked up the win. Leandro Marin pitched 1 inning allowing 1 hit. Wilfred Pichardo went 2 for 5 and scored a run. Michael Almanzar went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. He is now hitting .367. Joantoni Garcia went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

In the DSL, the Blue Jays edged the Red Sox 1-0. Leonel Escobar went 3 for 4.

Player of the Night: Michael Almanzar who had 3 hits which produced 2 runs scored and a RBI.
