Matsuzaka makes rehab start for Pawtucket


6/17 Cup of Coffee: Daisuke Matsuzaka made a rehab start last night in Pawtucket's 9-6 win over to Lehigh Valley. He went 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and a BB. He had 5 Ks. Edgar Martinez threw 2 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit. He had 2 Ks. Michael Tejera threw a clean inning of relief. Eric Hull started the 9th inning and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits retiring 1 hitter. Chris Smith retired the final 2 hitters in the 9th. Joe Thurston went 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored. Chris Carter went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jon Van Every went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI.

High Desert downed Lancaster 8-6 in the Jethawk's first game of the second half schedule. Chris Province (1-1) went 5 innings allowing 7 runs on 11 hits and a BB. He had 2 Ks. Josh Papelbon threw 4 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits. He had 5 Ks. Jorge Jimenez went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Daniel Nava went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Josh Reddick went 3 for 5 with a run scored and a RBI. Aaron Reza went 2 for 3 with a RBI.

Portland and Greenville were idle on Monday.

In the Dominican League. the Mets trounced the Red Sox 13-2. Centrefielder Felix Sanchez went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI.
